If you own a .com should you be registering the .net .org versions of your name.

How far do you go in protecting your name?

Depends if it's for development or just resale,

if for resale then probably the .com/.us possible .net

If for a real buisness/website the you think you will keep for a long time i'd go .com .net .info .us < thats the 4 i would take if iwere serious about the

If you want to develop your domain and use it for a long time, you should protect it via registering the domain versions of .net, .org, .biz, and .info. (if they are available), and if you site is based in the US, you should register the version of .us---you'll have nothing to lose, just adding some dozens of bucks yearly.

If your domain is brandable, you should register the other primary domain extensions.

I agree. Plus it looks nice to the buyer (if selling) if you can offer them the combo of the .com and .net as well, which sometimes will get you more for the .net then what you paid for it. :)
