How does PR influence domain name?

i've seen posts here that sells domain names saying that it has high PR...

my question is, how was PR computed for domain names and the website?

and also...i have a subdomain, it has a PR of 6/10...if i buy a domain name, would the PR change for my site?

I bought once for exampela nd then learned it was fake(?)
