How Does Domain Transfer Work

There's a domain I'm buying from someone that is registered at Namecheap. I would like to have it transfered to my account at Godaddy.

Will the transfer tool do this for me? Who has to do the transfer?

Login to your Godaddy account and initiate the transfer there.
Remember to unlock the domain at Namecheap first.

I got the domain simply by having the other person open an account at Namecheap and adding the domain.

Anyway, submit a request to transfer at Dodaddy will do.

you can also open an account at namecheap.com and let the previous owner push it to your namecheap username and then from there you are free to transfer it to whatever registrar you want.
