How do you issue a press release?

Just wondering how to issue a press release, maybe get noticed by the media.

I have no intentions of doing this but I got curious

of all i've listed, prweb is the strictest and i agree with surfertalk, don't confuse ads with news, pr is news and not ads and your target audience first are the business news editors if you can convince them if your news is really breaking news and newsworthy they will (usually without your cosent) publish your pr on their web site giving you free ads.

Talk about your mission and include quotes from yourself (I know it's odd). Write to inform, not advertise.

I've submitted my first one to PRLeap and PRWeb and it got picked up, so I at least know something about the process and the writing of a quality release. Keep it short and make sure what you're talking about is news.

There are also professional paid services like PR Newswire which go out to all the media outlets. Even using PR Newswire does not guarantee that the media will pick up on your news though. It's best to put it out there through as many free outlets as possible, and also submit the press release to news sites which focus on related fields.

oooooo thanks weblord. MDHP is the MillionDollarHomePage... www.milliondollarhomepage.com ... they had a press release and CNN picked up on it. Hence the popularity.

that's another story, im talking about getting business news editor to take your sides and believe it's a breaking news about your site that will end them re-publishing your story on their pages, thus leading to more visitors/people seeing about your site and visiting it, because it's not ad.

it's a breaking news that you want others to read/learn about it, youre first and foremost target audiences are the media.

I use PR web quite often and it's worth paying the 80 or so to get listed in Yahoo news, Google news and all the other places. Plus lots of blogs and splogs will pick up the story and publish it.

PrLeap is another one thats free that works pretty well.

I have 2 press release ready to go. One about the new affiliate program we just launched for Wynn Las Vegas and One about my new blog directory. www.5starblogs.com will let you know when they go out and how they do.
