Just wondering :yell:

I have found there are a few "good" appraisers here and a few not so good :o

I have not been around long and really DO NOT give out Xxxxxx appraisals because I think the value is in the buyer.

I do however say if I like or dislike the name and if I think the extention fits

I know its only a FREE rough guide (which I am grateful for) but as I have been quoted reg fee and $600 for the same name here dont really take too much notice. :|

No names please, just a general question :D

I admit I am not the best appraiser, I tend to only listen to the more "well-known" users here on namepros when I ask for an apprasal. If I do appraise though, I will only appraise a name where I have some knowledge of, or of names that I will do research on. Its hard to say and put a $ tag on a domain. It is all in the seller alot of the times and finding the right end buyer.

Hehe...Same here...I haven't really been able to get ahold of a "Valued" domain yet so I really haven't had to put much up for appraisal that I really took seriously. But best of luck, me and you are in the same shoes...still learning D-:

Reg fee ~ Conservative, realistic estimate.
$600 ~ Lucky, end user sale.

It’s all a personal opinion biased on pervious sales in the same niche market. It’s very possible that someone will think a domain is worth $1000’s and others will think its worthless.

That’s just how it works.

Maybe that happens because some of us find a domain good and the other don't see any potential, it's just matter of the person posting! For example me i don't find poker names so good(?)

I can see your point, I just think this is such a big difference in value.

A kind member actually sent me a pm to tell me the value of one of my names before another not so kind member tried to buy it from me for peanuts :|

Ya, like John said, a lot of it has to do with if you are talking about reselling the domain, finding an end user, or developing it. Take something like Google.com, if there was no company a reseller might only pay reg. fee. If you find an end user with the company name Google, then you might be able to get $500. If you develop it, and create the world's most popular search engine then you are very rich now ;) :hehe: Its a matter of your perspective.

I dont take them too seriously as no one can honestly know the true value of a name, it does give you a general idea of the appealing aspect mind you, catchy, brandable etc...

... which is why I normally dont put $ values on names.

If you have no Experience/Background in the subject of the domain - You should just go on to the next one. Thats one of the reasons it looks bad in there , along with the folks who are just spamming trying to earn NP$.

I know a lot of people avoid the area now not to be associated with some of the appraisals in there. - But we should all remember , these are free opinions and nothing more. Anyone who's been in this Industry for very long knows that it is not an appraisal that is going to sell the domains but getting off your Duff and contacting End Users or turning them over quickly for the Wholesale price range.

Just my 1.99999999999999 cents this morning ;)

As You said depends on the Buyer... They give different opinions because they mave have different meanings and connotations to other people

The Value of a domain is in the Eye of the Beholder (Yes thats my favourite line!)
