How do u determine a good host?

How would you recommend I go about finding a dedicated server? What should I be looking for? How can you tell if the host has a good service record or not and will be around and is not a fly by night operation?

I'm looking for a dedicated server that is on a large pipe. 2 gigs ram at least a 250g drive opteron or better processor.

Ok To determine a good host you need to do a background check on them seeing if any client or customer is wasn' satisfied with the company and as far as a dedicated server if you still in need of one I can get one for you just depending on how much you want to pay.
