The short answer is you can't!

A domain name may worth a lot to you, but it is possible that it's worthless for others.

People who have experience in selling domains usually know which domain may be worth something and which is worthless.

Trial and error, research, and plain ole time studying trends and the domain industry.

A lot of things people place great value in I find completely worthless. Meanwhile there is stuff I actively buy that I think is a great price in which others are happy to dump off to me.

Has a lot to do with experience but also the league everyone is in. Contacts and networking play a big role in how much a domain sells for. If you follow some of the domain bloggers they have a lot of name that are good that they can make great.

Which leads to another thing, I appraise a lot of domains on potential. Sometimes I do not, but often when I give a quick appraisal it is with everything considered. I take into account the market for it, development, trends, current backlinks, etc.

You can ask me for any domain.
I give the most honest appraisal ever seen on namepros.
(some members know exactly what I am talking about! hahahahhaha)

My appraisal is always based on what I will pay.

It is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. You will learn a lot here at NamePros ;).

If someone has provided the analysis and the decision points one could determine that the appraisal was good.

For accuracy?

Until you chart the line that is the buyers willingness to pay and another for the sellers willingness to sell.. and see the intersection? None are accurate.

Top domainers often fail to get close in terms of appraisals - it's most just for fun, imho. You get an idea of whether a name is bad, good, mediocre, or awesome. That's about it
