How do I run a script on webserver?

I have a file called cleanup.sh I need to run it on a directory on my server to delete a big list of files... does anyone know how to run such a script? If i point the web browser to this file eg. I've uploaded it to www.mydomain.com/dir/cleanup.sh - all it does it prompt me to save the file...

Is there a specific way to run scripts? Thru cpanel? FTP? Any ideas?

I think you need ssh access to run a shell script.

SH Scripts are not run via a web browser. You will need to log into your host via telnet or SSH and execute the script. Contact your host for information
