If I were to tell ya' I may have to reboot ya'! :notme:

Actually, I dont know the rules, if there are any. I know for sure there is no litmus test, no DNA test, and no requirement to get a recommendation from a parole officer. So I think even I too may have a chance! Just kidding :)

I am in no position to provide you an authoritative answer to this question, but I am in a mood to speculate this evening. So if I were to purely speculate, here is what I would think it would take to earn that golden dust:

* Stick around long enough here

* Prove your value through your contribution.

* Create a solid track record

* Earn respect from fellow members, and also from the NP domain gods.

* Don't miss out on any opportunity to help others

* Be cool, be polite and be professions (thanks CH)

* Demonstrate your grasp of the tricks of the trade, and show an untiring willingness to learn. This industry is always in flux anyway.

* Demonstrate your willingness to be a team player.

* Give up all your soft drinks and pledge your allegiance to Dr. Pepper -the drink.

* You should be fully aware that this ain't gonna be a cake walk.

* You should want to do this knowing fully that it is often a thankless job. The only true rewards being the satisfaction one gets from helping others.

* Develop a thick skin to put up with all kinds of stuff, for long hours.

I am running low on caffine, so you are in luck that I can't think of any more.

I am sure RJ/CH/and other MODS will chip in with the correct answer to your question.

BTW, the first MANDATORY requiremet is an interest in becoming a MOD. Congratulation on passing that challenge with flying colors. Good luck in your quest of helping others...

Again, these are just my personal thoughts, not NP requirements.

Best wishes,

Very well said, SlashRoot.Com! :p
The only thing I would add would be to not have any aversion to not showering for days on end. Personal hygiene is right out the window.
The odor is overwhelming at times ... and it's usually the first thing my wife comments on when she comes into the "work chamber", that's after helping me to cut away the roots between myself and the "control chair" to give her a hug!
Sometimes it ain't pretty, friends. :D

That was a very nice post SlashRoot.Com :)
Sounds more like good etiquette than mod reqs.
25 $NP are on the way!

The only thing I would change:
Replace the "Dr Pepper" with Beer :)

PS
Statistically speaking.
Being banned from DNF has been 100% effective for all mod positions to this point

I was going to say that, but then I realized there are some underage regulars here...

OK, your turn!

How would I become a Mod without diluting such an excellent stastical record?

I done my part by listing ways of increasing one's chances of becoming a
Mod.

How about an insight on surefire ways of getting banned? :notme:

Getting interesting....

I agree with DotLeader, I thought I knew everything about domains the first time I registered one. This site helps others and I think CoolHost.com and Namecaster does a great job at being mod. And -RJ- by being the Admin ;)

I must have missed this great revolution! I thought people felt that way in about an hour of registering their first domain!

I guess I need to get out more often...

Thanks DotLeader, I owe you one!! :)
