We have a starter after 5 years of ding dong! Now that registrars are starting to stream in for this new .EU domain, including POOL.com, :p

just how big do you think this landrush will get?

and

who wants to start a business offerting proxy services for domainers outside the EU? :p :p

I dont think .eu will become as near as .us got popular. This is because european ccTLDs (.de, .it...) still exist and while they exist, they are far more known to ordinary surfers than .eu.

I think that it will be better than the .co.in/.in landrush, and that was a pretty big one

If someone saw a .eu it could be in any language

Is that good or bad? .EU is neutral to the different languages in Europe, which is good, imho.

A very big potential. I am not sure if we can get a .eu if we are not residing in Europe. Can we?

Thanks!

:)

I live in Europe, so I hope it will be big. But I do not know if you may reg it if you aren't European.

it will be a very popular business domain, initially drawing in many companies in the former eastern bloc. Re language the websites will invariably be in English. It will also gradually drive down the national ccTLDs such as .co.uk and .de IMHO

Hey,

Well I actually think that .EU will become very popular. Like mole said, .EU represents 25 nations and we have to keep in mind that EU is expanding more and more.

All the best,

Good observation. Although one could argue that the EU is a royal economic mess of bickering grandfathers, the European Union is also a new birthright and identity for tired economies necessarily coming together to face a tough global future.

The world is globalizing at a immense pace, and the One World One Dream, is no longer a dream.

I would liek to hear Europeans weigh in on this, If you are from Germany for example , do you think of yourself more as a German or A European? So If it is German I would think you would stick with .de but I don't Know I am not from Europe so I would like those who know to give their opinions.

It will be big, only in the Netherlands there are so many pre-registration, there are also many companies who paid the 10.000 EURO to start with.

in time they will all be popular :) And as we've stated before - if the demand is higher than the supply - people will have to look elsewhere, for example .eu domains!
