How bad domain names can damage your organization

“Ouch, I just saw a really HORRIBLE website address!”, I complained to my friend after I recently saw an add on LinkedIn.

The add, created by a large government organization, was graphically very nice, and apparently they tried their best to attract students to find more information on their website about one of their programs, spending thousands of dollars for their adds in social media.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Before 2014, we really had only few options to create addresses in extensions like .com, .net or .org, or national domain extensions like .co.uk or .de.

And you do not really need more options.

.uk determines your market like "UK" in a postal address or +44 in a phone number. Same for .de.
Phone number have a country prefix and the domain name a country post (suffix). Why should it be more complicated?
.com is global,
and also for the U.S. market, because .us came too late.

And before the dot you have the name of your company/brand or site. No more dots, just the name.

(.co.uk holders could receive a .uk domain name, so ".co" is not necessary any more.)

BrandXYZ has a .uk in the UK, .de in Germany, .it in Italy.
Very easy to understand for clients/consumers.
And short. Just two letters or thee in case of .com.

But .international?
Is it the longest one?
You know that also .int exists and it means the same...
