I am curious to know how accurate you think GoDaddy, or for that matter, any other company's domain appraisals are?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Are there any groups who keep domain appraisers accountable?

Is there any way of comparing one form of appraisal against another?

Personally, I don't trust the majority of domain appraisal groups as I think that most of them just use promotion rather than forms of accountability to justify that they are good at what they do.

(e.g. I'm a good appraiser because "blah blah blah" rather than I'm a good appraiser because this group will testify that I am)

Afternic's appraisals seem boosted in general, though sometimes they're undervalued if they don't do enough research on the name. Haven't had any GoDaddy appraisals but I can't imagine them being any less boosted, as they want their customers to buy more names. And Sedo, FWIW, appraised Poker*in for $2500 as I was buying it for $2650 (the dude requested their aqcuisition service, barf). Given that 100% of the people I've asked since that sale thought that was a hell of a deal, not to mention all the xx,xxx offers I've gotten since then (most ON Sedo), Sedo definitely underappraised it. Ironically now, probably thanks to the bids, I've got it listed in their top names, LOL. Afternic meanwhile won't touch it, and strangely enough, there are no appraised .in names listed on Afternic, at least last time I looked. I have a feeling they would value .in 20/50 like all the really bad ccTLDs when it should be 30/50 like .cc, so I haven't bothered with any .in appraisals there.

DSound Products might want your domain name.
They are currently using www.dsound1.com
as their web site. This is a real company.
I bought one of their guitar products myself.

I sent them an email. Thanks for the heads up.
Much appreciated.

BTW, I did end up getting a sale out of this transaction (for my asking price, not GD's appraised value).
