The domain market is much too unpredictible for appraisals to be very accurate. One person can recognise value that others will miss and end-users can pay huge prices for the specific domain they need.

Appraisals in general are really rough because its very difficult to determine potential sale prices. Your best bet is to look at Sales Comps of recent keywords. However, of the paid appraisal services, Godaddy is among the worst. I highly recommend posting in the appraisal section here at NamePros. Often times Domain experts will explain potential value and what you might be able to fetch on the market.

And of course, Welcome to Namepros

Agreed.
You will get more meaningful appraisals just by posting here.
Appraisals here are free but unlike godaddy we have no incentive to inflate figures so that you will register even more domains ;)

An appraisal should be backed by a discussion/justification, just throwing a 5-digit figure on letterhead means nothing...

Another possible way to determine value is to look at comparable, reported sales. Reported sales reflect actual market trends while appraisals are just theory.
