Hi

I need a hosting for my new autoresponder service business. My current webhost shut down my site for sending out large quantity of emails, I think he's afraid they might be SPAM.

I can assure you all emails are sent to double-opt in subscribers and because this is autoresponder business, the more customers I have, the more emails will be sent.

Please PM me if your hosting have the following:

* Unix/Linux server.
* Perl 5+
* 1 MySQL database.
* the DBI module
* Sendmail
* LWP module.
* Cron job ability.
* ablility to pipe emails.

Thanks! :)

Can you provide a preview of the autorespond?
Whats an estimate of the current emails being sent at this time? I.e before your host suspended you, how many emails were sent per day?

Hello exolis,

SmurfSolutions baby package should be able to suit all your needs and you won't have to worry about getting shutdown, If you by any chance not satisfied by our hosting solutions you can feel free to request a refund within 30days or less.

Hi,

1. When you say preview, do you mean giving you access to a trial account?

2. Right now traffic and number of emails sent is very negligible as the site is only about one week old.

3. About 100 emails were sent when I was shut down. I've spoken to my host and he requires me to purchase a dedicated server to run this service but I cannot afford his $200 a month price right now.

My plan is this: start small with a normal reseller package and upgrade to a dedicated server when funds start coming in.

Post an example of a message.
That's what I mean by preview.

Or are you providing people to buy autoresponder mailboxes off you?

Hi

I'm providing an autoresponder service like GetResponse.com where people can sign up for my service and start building their own subscriber lists.

All subscribers are required to double opt-in before they can start receiving emails.

A typical message will have an unsubscribe link at the bottom of the mail and subscribers' sign up IP addresses are logged as well.

How much space and bandwidth do you need? What's your typical CPU usage and memory usage in peak times - if you know? Also, what is your budget?

Hi Swizi,

Thanks for the quick reply.

It's my first time running this service so resource usage is low right now. I have no idea what typical CPU or memory usage will be during peak times but I do know eventually, as business expands and funds start coming in, I will upgrade to a dedicated server.

Right now I'm kinda in a state of confusion. Some web hosts I've been speaking to the past day and a half are alright with me using their VPS account first then upgrade to a dedicated one later.

But other web hosts say VPS won't do 'cos there's a very low limit on how many emails can be sent a day.

Currently, getting a dedicated server is out of my budget so I was thinking of getting a VPS first, then upgrade later.

Do you think it would work?

Personally, if you like the feel of shared and how shared works, I would go for a semi-dedicated package. It works like shared, as far as it's feel, but it has higher resource usage and more diskspace and bandwidth. I would purchase a regular shared account, and move up to it as needed. If this sounds interesting or sounds like something that would fit you, just pm me, or check out our specials.

It's really up to you. Dedicated servers have no limit on emails sent. Some VPS are the same - no limit. Semi-dedicated is just literally a few reseller accounts with high quotas on a dedicated.
I would start with shared then move up.
But keep your budget reasonable in return with a reasonable quota allotment. I.e don't expect lots of quota for very little money.

But this kind of thing your running can be very risky, unless of course you're setting the autorespond message, they could set it to send out porn links, warez websites, etc. And it could be used for sending out things the user wasn't expecting when they signed up. Also phishing and many of those sorts of things.

Hi Swizi,

I've laid out in my Terms of Service what is and is not allowed. When we receive complains then I'll immediately suspend the customer's account.

I think I've settled on getting a VPS for now, but not sure if it's easy to use as I'm not a technical guy and my first time getting one... :)

In that case you can get a management company if you want the technical stuff of your hands.
Which is what I can do.
See this page - http://www.swizi.com/server-management.html.

Basically, what management is - we setup your server with hardening (installing a firewall, anti-virus, many sorts of other software to stop intrusions etc.
And we can update any software when you ask.
We can also install any software/scripts you want, just ask us!
Many other things, see the page.

There are also many other management companies around the net, you'll just have to look.

Some off the top of my head:
www.touchsupport.com
www.rack911.com
www.linuxnetworkcare.com

Hope I helped.
