According to NameBio, PegiPegi.com sold at GoDaddy for $51,000.

I believe it was the highest reported sale on NameBio on February 22, 2025.

I was reading through WIPO's UDRP decision email today and it caught my attention because I remember questioning why such a term sold for such an amount. Then someone clarified that it was the name of one of the largest the Travel Agencies in Indonesia.

The registrant did not bother to file a response.

By the way, the second-highest bidder must be feeling like they dodged a bullet right now.

Yeah one of those SEO domain buys, High DA, a lot of backlinks and then the company that had left it expire, says "OK Game On"

“Hi, Loyal Pegipegi Customers! Almost 12 years of being your travel solution has been an irreplaceable experience for Pegipegi, but with a heavy heart, today, December 11, 2023, Pegipegi must say goodbye."

The company closed down, lets the domain expire, but they're still entitled to get it back via UDRP?

Why a gambling site now?

Very strange actions by the former owner.

But they still have about 11 active trademarks for PegiPegi including multiple marks for the exact term PegiPegi.com.

It sounds like they no longer need the domain name but they don't want someone else to take advantage of the "SEO juice" either. Especially for a redirect to a gambling site.

They even reported the registrant to their local police for operating an illegal online gambling site since it seems the registrant is also a resident of Indonesia.

It would have been an interesting case if the Respondent hadn't put up an illegal gambling site and argued the Complainant abandoned their right to the domain by closing their business and letting the domain expire.

So someone gambled 50k on a TM domain to redirect to a gambling website... what an irony!

It's possible they made more money in the short time it was up than they spent on the name. I doubt it was their first time buying names like that.

Of course, I don't know the punishment for this type of stuff over there:

That is business. If you are familiar with business, then you will comprehend.

When 5 to 20 visitors sign up on the gambling site & participate... they will have recouped the expenses incurred for the domain purchases.

The referred customers come from various backgrounds, not just travelers.

Gambly is similar to drugs... People sell their belongings for it.

5-20 people sign up?
Whats the affiliate commission? 25% of all losses?
20 sign ups, each deposit $1000 lose it all on detroit and under
You get $250 per person
Thats 5k
1/10 of purchase price.
How you come up with that number?
I can drop my bet365 affiliate code if anyone wants to sign up
Crap we read on here. Blind leading the blind.

GoDaddy is the winner here.
Made money with parking page and from the auction.

Perhaps the complaint was filed by the liquidator. The domain was for sure listed as property of the liquidated company, and suddenly it went missing, so they went after it. A bankrupt company is still a legal person, so the trademarks didn't expire just yet and all IP can and should be sold to someone else, to reimburse creditors.

Remember this auction, there are a lot of similar ones with 'pafi' keywords.

Curious if Godaddy has any liability? Did they own it? If not, how can you auction something you don’t own?
