the money maker here is holidays.info
holiday is worth regfee at best. it simply refers to a singular holiday.. like xmas or others.. holidays in plural is top stuff.. referring to vacations etc..very very valuable.
when in doubt check out hosterstats

http://www.hosterstats.com/historicaldns.php?domain=holidays.info
holidays is ~20 year old domain
holiday is 1 year old
people don't renew domaisn for 20 years or many years for no reason. and usually those are very valuable domains.
of cuorse exceptions exist.
people give way too little value to domain age today.
most domaisn worth owning are very very old. its' as simple as that.
whereas recently regged domains.. young ones.. have almost always no liquid value.
hope this helps
cheers
Age is something that only domain investors care about. If its good, someone will pay up for it. This is a great name, even in .info and as @bmugford said, there was a long lasting TM assigned to the name that removed it from the market for several years.
This name is worth high 4 low five 5 figures and maybe more to the perfect end user.
age of domains means no thing really..alot of high quality domains are droping every day...and alot of domain sales on dropcatch you can see them for high xxx and xxxx while you can see they lost their age on whois...endusers don't care about the domain age only domainers care and not all of them really.
I meant top quality stuff... liquid like.. top quality never drops.. and is very old... generics.. best 2words .. etc
rest is just taking chances on stuff others don't want ... or more rarely forget to renew.
there is stuff that might sell for 3-4 figures like you say.. "oh maybe I'll get luck and find enduser" type of sale.. and then there is stuff that is guaranteed to sell for 4 figures and up.. thats more what I meant.. and tnat's always old and aged.
and again, this has nothing to do with endusers caring or not .. like I said before, quality domains (aged ones) are like an intersection of what domainers want and endusers want.. because in the end domainers want what endusers want... so its no point talking about what one or the other wants.. when this is an intersection..
cheers
but there are already top quality domains on dropcatch
let's think.. when a domain been sold for more 2 or 3k to a domainer it must be worth more than 5k to enduser.
besides alot of top domains are dropping really..the reason that you see some quality domains on dropcatch that's probably because the registrar that the domain was registered in it has no marketplace for the expired domains so that's why it's on dropcatch auction...but on godaddy as an example when top quality domains appear to expire they will be immediately caught on auction on their marketplace and therefore the domain will be shown that it's an aged domain.
yes you are right about the argument ..but anyway we agree on some points.. and i appreciate your opinion...all the bestI am sure we can argue this for long time.. it may all depend what you mean by quality.. I could be talking about apples.. and you oragnes.. and we could be both right.. just not talking about same stuff... it depends what price ranges we mean .. what quality etc.. its oftopic for here anyway.. but the type of value or quality I am talking about you will never find as being 1 or 2 years old. I've seen my share of domain ages etc.. and it just doesn't work that way.
so in that regard, age is fantastic indicator of value and quality.. because it never ever fails to describe certain range and type of domain quality/value/liquidity. and as such I never take it lightly. as for other domains.. 1 or 2 year old.. or even few motnhs old.. sure.. they could sell... or not.. but I am not talking about those.
cheers

Age is not a clear indicator of value. There are many crap names held for 15 years and many names with 5 figure potential maybe even 6 dropcatched and auctioned off on NJ everyday. It all comes down to the "want" , if someone wants something enough they'll pay up to get it no matter circumstances.
