domain hogwash.com value?

A domain is worth whatever people are prepared to pay for it. I am saying this to save any dorks from butting in just to say this worthless remark Hopefully the folks here are not dorks.

Today hogwash.com sold on namejet.com for $2717. I only bid up to $1517. Actually I woke up too late (the auction finished 4:30am where I live!.

How much would you say it was worth, say if the auction was yet to take place?

I think this is a very brandable domain. Short enough and easy to remember. It is a negative sentiment. But it would work for many sites which were critical.

I think the value is several thousands of dollars. But I am lacking in experience of what domains sell for these days. How do people keep up to date?

I like this one though cause it brings back the good old days when I worked for partying money and barely had any bills...

Somewhere in between 1993 & 1996 I managed an automotive shop in Mokena, Illinois for about 2 1/2 years, In this same town which is currently about 40-45 minutes southwest of me now was a company called Herders just a few minutes away from the auto shop that manufactured a carburetor choke cleaner called HogWash which kinda spread by word of mouth and we did order cases of the carburetor choke cleaner, brake cleaner but mainly we ordered a product called Busty which had a picture of a chick with big knockers on it and was a WD-40 equivalent, some big auto chains did pick up distribution of their products, not sure if they went under or just let a name expire but to me just based on the history of using/ordering their products over 16 years ago it's worth more than $2717 to me, found this link in google which shows the can of Hogwash and Busty Herdor's - Hogwash.com

This name is extremely memorable and i think the buyer got a deal if the owner held out and advertised it could ahve fetched a ton more
