domain .hk ccTLD's 4k.hk and mechanics.hk

Hello there, I have been trying so many different methods to find out if any of my domain names actually hold any value. I have been in the domain game for about 4 weeks now and from what I can work out, names are worthless unless someone really wants it or the domain is fully developed.

Anyway, I have the following .hk domains 4k.hk and mechanics.hk, I also have biblestudy.hk

Honest opinion is most appreciated as I believe sedo's value is nothing to go by!! there total valuation is £26,000 GBP which is roughly $45,000. If these were true valuations I'm pretty sure sedo wouldn't have rejected my application for an auction.

As a general guide this comment tends to be true. The domains you have listed will only have value, however, if English is commonly understood in Hong Kong. I think the default language over there is traditional Chinese, but i'm not altogether sure to be honest.

Mechanics.hk has the best potential for value, but if "mechanics" is not a well known term in HK then I believe it will be a reg fee name. As for the others, they have no or negligible value at best.

You say you've been in the 'game' for only 4 weeks... I think it's not enough to have a good command of domaining unless you've been reading like crazy, and soaking up vast amounts of knowledge...

I think you still need to do more research.
Don't try to reinvent the wheel, look at what kinds of domain names are selling, and understand why. Then you'll know what to buy in order to make sales.

I am not sure why you registered .hk domains.
Is this your local extension ? I don't see a lot of reported sales for .hk domains, assuming you are allowed to buy them for the express purpose of resale, and assuming there is consistent demand from end users.

As for the 'valuation' it is certainly rubbish, I guess you used some sort of automated tool.

Thanks guys, like I said im still learning, English is the second common language of Hong Kong that's why I registered them. Will hold on to them for now and watch the market for .hk sales

English is the number one language in HK when it comes to business, education and most definitely domain names. That said, most HK companies don't buy domains on the after market since with .com and .com.hk or .asia etc there's usually a TLD in which their preferred domain is available. The territory is also very small with 7 mio people so there's not really a big market. Biblestudy.hk is good but you might be waiting for years before a buyer knocks on your door. My advice would be to focus on .com. .hk domains are pretty expensive to renew too.
