I tested out a server with hivelocity and prepaid 3months. They have a 30day money back gurantee, so i paid $297. After 2 weeks the server was running too slow so i tried to cancel the server (after discussing with support). They tried to reduce the price and everything to keep me but i had got another server by then. Its take them 15days to refund me and they have take $99 for setup fee. I dont see where on its site does it say i have to pay a setup fee if i cancel within the 30 day money back gurantee.

Can anyone suggest what i should do? Should i let them keep my $99 or should i fight it?

What options do i have?

Fight it, but not much good Small Companies can be nasty little places sometimes. Had a similar run in although not nearly as much cash with a small company too recently where they said there was a "Setup" Fee that I had to pay if I cancelled?

See thats not right, these companies should not do things like that it only gets them a Bad Name! I say you talk to them again and ask them to refund all your money back or more at least. If they dont want to tell them you will tell everybody you know to avoid them. Do that by posting on forums like this one to show people they should stay away.

Taking this to court wont be worth it, as it will take a long time and not worth it in the end.

You cant really do much since probably the data center charged them a setup fee so you can blame them for charging you also. Also you used their services for a period of 2 weeks and this doesnt cover you for a 30 day refund

In a situation like this I would give the customer back their money. I am not the kind of guy that would screw the customer like this. I keep seeing what these comanies do to their customers and well I keep learning what I should not do with my hosting company.
