Hi

how much is it worth?

and say for example, if cairo.com is worth $300,000, how much will the .us be worth?

I noticed there arent so many .us sales, and its suffering.

what do you see ahead coming for this extension? any potential?

Re: what's ahead for the extension
.us will be big. The main debate is over when it will become big.

Re: lack of sales
Many .us sales are taking place; however, few of them are made public. There are two primary reasons for this: 1) many of the sales are for less than $1,000, and 2) many of the sales are subject to non-disclosure agreements. For instance, I have not disclosed any of my .us sales and I know several other larger players in the industry are similarly tight-lipped.

Yep. I've not purchased any from Fonz, but the purchases I have made from others were not publicized. And I have no problem with that.

On to the subject of Cairo.us - it's comparing apples and rocks when looking at the .com. Cairo - the world-class city - doesn't lend itself to the .us extension. However, there are several United States cities named Cairo http://www.placesnamed.com/c/a/cairo.asp so you may get some interest there. I'd consider it a solid low- to mid-xxx name.

Good luck.

I agree with WADODGER. The .us needs to have something to do with the U.S. I don't think it works well for places outside the US. It does have value with the smaller cities though.

Can a non -us citizen buy a name like cairo.us ?

and how much tax he would pay or the seller has to pay if he is living in US or outside US ?

It is my understanding a person needs to be either a U.S. citizen or have a legitimate US-based business or business presence in order to own a .us name. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Borrowing from one of my previous posts:

Frank, in response to your question, here are the Nexus requirements (quoted from pdf doc linked below):

Registrants in the usTLD must be either:

1.A natural person (i) who is a United States citizen, (ii) who is a permanent resident of the United States of America or any of its possessions or territories, or (iii) whose primary place of domicile is in the United States of America or any of its possessions [Nexus Category 1],

2.A United States entity or organization that is (i) incorporated within one of the fifty (50) U.S. states, the District of Columbia, or any of the United States possessions or territories, or (ii) organized or otherwise constituted under the laws of a state of the United States of America, the District of Columbia or any of its possessions or territories (including a federal, state, or local government of the United States or a political subdivision thereof, and non-commercial organizations based in the United States) [Nexus Category 2], or

3.A foreign entity or organization that has a bona fide presence in the United States of America or any of its possessions or territories [Nexus Category 3].

Thanks for the reply.

So that makes it Cairo.com can be bought by anyone and Cairo.us can only be bought by someone in the US.

do that makes it : if cairo.com is for 300000 so cairo.us may be for low xxxx
as its only for the US and if anyone in the us wants this name ,, maybe an investor or an Egyptian who is living in the us .

Like newyork.us will be for medium xx,xxx AS its the place in the US.

I think that's because in the USA everybody wants the .com I think that if you wait it out it will grow in value. their will be a time that almost all the .com are sold and everybody will use other names. .US will grown in value in time. right now maybe 1,000 - 20,000 if your lucky. just hold on to it. a lot of people want to buy and sell. the best thing you can do is hold on till the right time then sell. now is a buyers market.
