Hey I'm new to the domain business but very interested in trying to make a go of it. Does anyone have any advice as to the best sites buying, selling and or researching domains?:|

My advice:

Don't buy domains when you are a newbie :)

Hey I'm new to the domain business but very interested in trying to make a go of it.
Just some random points for you:

- Almost everything you buy at first is going to be garbage. You'll think it's good, but it is surely garbage.

- Don't fall for any of the "next big thing" discussions. This stuff never ever pans out. Ever.

- As a newbie, don't just assume that you'll make enough sales to cover renewal fees a year from now. The "I've got a whole year to do something with it." mindset is what breaks newbies when you multiply it by 50, 100, 300 domains.

Unless you're careful and don't go and hand-reg anything...

I agree with all the above, I have been buying domains now for about 5 years and only just (This month) made a profit on Domain Sales.

I started out buying domains with the outlook at selling them for profit, big mistake. I ended up with TM domains and the rest well to be honest where dog shit.

Looking back at when I started I thought my domains where the bees knees how wrong I was.

If you want to get into the domain business and being a noob be prepared to lose money and time.

Now I only buy domains to develop which for me works, again going back to time, developing a domain into a working business is a full time job but can pay off. I now have an average domain that is making ยฃ180+ a week from ads and around 15 more that make around ยฃ20 each. But for me to achieve these figures I put around 8hrs a day every day every week in to keeping the sites fresh and updated. plus there is the extra time I put into SEO

My advice to you young padawan is to read and read some more, don't rush into buying anything until you have done your homework and don't expect to make your millions over night....

After saying all that I wish you luck on your journey and you have definitely come to the right place (Namepros) to ask and seek advice

So true! Even though I want to hold thousands like the big dogs do it's just not practical without big sales and huge profits.

I am restructuring mine to fit around 20-50 in total and finding some way to monetize them all to cover renewal.

Which brings me to a great point... Don't just assume if it covers renewal in profits it is worth hanging on to. If you are trying to make a living off of this that does not cut it. Even if you are not, what is your time worth? For me this hobby/business sucks a lot of time out of me. I am always trying to find better ways to allocate my time and more efficiently.

Don't buy names just because estibot gave you nice valuation.

EstiBot is a sales tool to help the seller sell the domain. The buyer often times over paid. Your best bet is to learn before buying as with anything else. The other option is to buy domains for the sole purpose of developing and then flipping.
