I am working on a humor site I want to know how I can hook up a video file to a link so when they click the link it brings up the file to watch the video and not to download the video just to watch.

If you want to just show the video, better to convert it to macromedia flash format. Because you can show it easily in webpages without any extra coding and it also reduces file size which will help to load faster.
