Help on image compression please

Lets say i import a transparent png to flash @ like 240k or the same image as a transparent gif @ 20k.When i publish the movie will i compress both images to an equivilent (or close) file size or will the compression be a comprable percentage ......ie. png @ 240 k compresses 80 percent to 192k while a gif @20 k compresses @ 80 percent to 16k.......quick help would be appreciated guys
