I just regged:
FamousRegister dot com

It allegedly sold for $9,675 on 12/24/06 according to Estibot. Namebio also has it listed. But other then that I don't see much evidence that the sale actually happened.

Here is the DNJournal end of 2006 sales report. No sign of the sale.
http://www.dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2006/ytd-sales-charts-2006.htm

I checked early 07 for signs of the sale on DNJournal but also no go. Google search isn't much help either. So what is the best way to find out if the sale actually went thru?

Thx.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

The only record archive.org has for this site is in 2007 so that is not much help. Looks like it was just a parked page then.

Estibot is enhanced by NameBio - meaning that estibot draws its sales information directly from NameBio.

In this case, the domain sale allegedly took place at Sedo. Unfortunately, unlike the other major platforms, Sedo does not provide information if a sale was actually completed. We are forced to publish information which has not been verified. This is one of the limitations we must at the present time, endure.

This does of course leave NameBio with the option of not including Sedo sales/auctions. But we feel that would be a bigger loss then an improvement. We are working diligently to release a guaranteed feed sometime at the end of this year, or beginning of next.

I'm guessing it's yet another case of shill bidding which probably didn't work out so it dropped.

That is probably the best answer. The name is certainly not worth the bid. If you registered it based on the previous sale, I would try and get a refund.

Yes, it is for sure.

I thought that Sedo only published transactions when they have been completed ?

You could always contact the old owner (2006) and ask them.

Yes Estibot sales data comes directly from Namebio, courtesy of Justin.

Namebio.com is more up-to-date, use that primarily.

The fact that unverified SEDO sales must be published is something we're going to have to live with.

I feel it is better that Namebio publishes unverified SEDO sales than no SEDO sales at all.

Namebio just like any other online tool (Estibot included) should be used as a quick reference only -> if a business decision is about to be made, deeper research and verification of sales data, as well as keyword data (concerning estibot) is mandatory.

Our services must use whatever resources are available to us while we try to provide domainers with as much information as possible. We don't have the financial backing of the big guys and the big guys (with the money and the means) don't share their data so we keep trying to find ways to hunt down all the data that's available. In some cases, that means poor data but as the Swedish say "ta det goda med det onda", you gotta take the bad to have the good or something like that :)
