Hi everyone.

i really hope somebody can help me here,

i plan to set up my own forum.

it will be like a marketplace forum, where people can buy and sell.

may i know what should be needed?
what kind of hosting is required?
should i go for vBulletin?

i would require feedbacks like dp and namepros after a transaction is done.
do i have to buy an additional program to have feedback enabled or does it come with vBulletin.

thanks

For vb you need a license
$80 leased (1 year validity) or $160 owned (lifetime validity)
you can use smf instead or phpbb perhaps these two are free.

For hosting you need Cpanel based hosting.
Space and bandwidt will depend on your requirements :)
Thanks,
montsa

SMF has an addon hack that allows for feedback/rating.

NP uses vBulletin and its pretty good, though I don't know whether you need to pay for the TR feature.

If you are a first time user go with SMF till you get a hang of it, you can install it pretty easily. montsa007 was spot on about the hosting.

cool. thanks for your responses.

but i guess i really need to set up something with one time success, i dont really want to change the forum when it's done.

about hosting,
is shared hosting enough?
or is those VPS better?
i seriosly dont know.
:]

anyway thanks for those who responded.

Hi again,
you can install phpbb and later migrate to vb, does not affect your forum :)
for the hosting, if you feel forum wont eat much resources shared is okay, for vb (and big boards) i strongly recommend a vps.
But in both the cases you can order a shared host and later migrate to vps as you will have an idea of the resources you consume :)
Thanks,
montsa007
lemme know if u have any other doubt :)
