Best Free Forum Script

What do you think the best free forum script would be to use to start a forum? I plan on getting vbulletin eventually but until then what do you suggest?

MyBB. I've tried SMF, but it just doesn't fit my taste. SMF is nothing like vBulletin. (for me, imho.)

My vote is for MyBB as well.
I don't really like phpBB, but I've seen some nice sites with it.

The biggest forum in the world at the moment is made with PHPbb it is the forum they use at GaiaOnline.com PHPbb probobly has the most Modifications for a free script but MyBB is the closest to VB as you will get.

phpBB due to the awful dev team at MyBB who basically tell you to stuff it if one of their exploits causes you're forum to get hacked (which happens more so than on phpBB I may add). MyBB is a cheap mans vBulletin....and that has consequences.

There is no 'best script'. Different people have different needs and tastes. You should try a few different ones to find which one fits yours. Here's a few links:

I personally would say MyBB, I have some pretty good experiences with it in the past. PHPBB, is one of the most commonly used, but in my opinion, the worst looking board. It doesn't look too professional, MyBB, does, in my opinion, others may have different ones.

I work with the most important ones (phpBB, SMF, myBB) I am a skin designer and run 11 forums. I like phpBB the most. Maybe that's because my women community got me the phpBB of the Year award on phpBBhacks ...

It's a simple to use script and as a skin designer i have all the freedom to experiment
