Help in improving Alexa ranking

Hello

I am doing SEO of a site and it is having PR 4 but since some months its alexa rank is decreasing continuously it was at 237,000 before and now it is over 500,000. i am not getting now what do in it. I am daily exchanging g links as well as doing directory submission but i am not getting any change in it.

Please help me to get out of this problem.

As far as I know (please, correct me, if I'm wrong), Alexa rankings are based mainly on the behaviour of peoples using Alexa Toolbar.

So I can't get it: why Alexa rankings are so important? What if my site is visited ONLY by peoples who does not have Alexa Toolbar installed?

their rankings are fully based on the alexa toolbar visits

Well , i think you should be keep updating contents in the site , and keep your site updated daily , that would help alexa to maintain your rank i guess, more over alexa ranking is only for traffic count purpose , so never mind
