Hello, domain peoples. I've literally just started doing this. Like last night I got this idea that selling domain names could be profitable (because apparently I was sleeping in 2002 when it was REALLY profitable). Anyway, super new and ready to learn how to do this right. I've compiled a list of domains I've checked that are open and am filled with questions and excitement as to if I should buy a name, how much I should pay for it, where do I sell it, etc. I hope to find the answers to these questions and many more here.

Biggest question right now... I've purchased a domain, so now what?

(Also, I used a free appraisal thing and it appraised a site at a lot of money (($$$$)) which I ecstatically bought, and then another free appraisal thing after I bought it told me it was worth $0. Did I just make my first bum purchase?)

First thing to do before you go registering names is to read as much about the domain investment industry as possible. Browse through our forums here and read as much as you can take in and try to learn.

Also, don't use those automated domain appraisal sites, they are pretty much worthless.

If you have any question, search the forum and if you don't find the answer you are looking for then post a thread in the appropriate section of the site and someone will surely be willing to help.

In 2002 (which was after the dotcom boom) plenty of people were losing money too, just like today, so don't worry about coming late to it.

What they didn't have then was all the interesting new generic domains which I would say offer the best chance for making money today.
