    Hello,

    My name is Desiree.

I was looking for a way to make some extra money online a few weeks ago and discovered domaining. I have read a few e-books, but have discovered the information is outdated. So I started searching the internet for more relevant information.

This site looks really good. I have read a couple of the beginner guides and found them very helpful. I just wish I had read them before I bought a few domain names last week.

I have bought some domain names. Most of them are .site, but I do have 2 .coms.

None of them have sold yet.

The first 2 things I would like to learn are:

What other extension is best since .com,.net,and.org are so used up?
What are the best selling practices when it comes to price and selling format?

    Thank you.

    Hello!

Overall a number of " other extensions " have done all right for a number of domain name buyers / re-sellers. Keep seeking the coms if possible as assuredly they remain in demand.

You might take a look at the various extensions that are featured throughout the forum and their reported sales and determine if one or more might be of particular interest to your personal domain goals and acquisition cost risk.

There are numerous threads and posts espousing the benefits and the pitfalls of various pricing methods and sales methodologies.

Again suggest read as much as possible and try and determine what selling practices or venues might be best for your domain endeavors and circumstances. You might get an idea/s of name value/s by posting same in the APPRAISAL section of the forum.

    Welcome to NamePros!

    Thank you.

I have found that there is a lot of good information on here. I am going to spend some time seriously studying the discussions on this site before I buy any more domains. This is the best site I have found to really learn the domaining business.

I believe that if I take the time to read various discussions and ask questions I will develop my niche and selling method quickly.

I am glad that namepros offers free appraisals. I will post in that when I can. I think I am restricted from that right now because I am new.

I plan to become very involved in this community. Everyone seems nice and willing to help, and once I learn more I want to contribute and help other newbies.

That is one thing I like about domaining. There really is not any competition, because each domain name is unique. This allows for everyone in the industry to help everyone else and still make good money.

    Thanks again.

Hi @Desiree Jordan .. and welcome to NamePros! :)

@WatchDogue most certainly gave you great advice .. there are a small number alternateTLD domains that can be good, but for the most part, they are bad long-term investments. You best bet is to start with .com domains until you get a better feel for why the others aren't worth anything close to the equivalent .com.

Best of luck to you going forward! :)

    Thank you.
I have been doing a lot of research and I think sticking with .com is best. It ranks higher in search engines and a lot of the other TLDs have a high spam ratio, which can cause google to block domains with those extensions.
