What’s your name?
A: Guilliano
Where do you live?
A: Near Amsterdam, Netherlands
What’s your level of expertise?
novice, intermediate, expert, etc.
A: Haven't left the novice area just yet
How much experience do you have in the domain industry?
years, experience, etc.
A: I've been working with computer and internet-related stuff since 1999 (I was 15, so no notion of domaining at that time lol). I started looking at this more seriously just a couple of months ago and man, do I wish I could go back in time to reg some names in '99... then again, we probably all wish that so we'd be fighting over the same pie again :D
What would you like to specifically learn first?
how to buy a domain, domain history, best selling strategies, government policies, etc.
A: I'd like to learn how to recognize and appraise a good domain name. Selling them would probably come easier once I hone that craft.
Are you currently working on any projects or ideas?
A: Nothing noteworthy. I am mostly gathering knowledge and information, slowly building a focus for a portfolio and try to avoid any more newbie mistakes.
What are your short-term goals in the next year?
A: I believe in shooting for the stars when setting goals, so I'd like to have ownership over 8 (my lucky number :D) great domain names and by the end of the year have a least netted $5000.
What are your long-term goals in the next 5 years?
A: I'd like to be firmly settled in this industry, doing great business and having fun with my domainer friends!
What was your first domain you purchased?
A: I honestly don't remember. I think it was some blog I set up with friends back in the early 2000s. The first one I ended up registering and keeping for domaining was shortstay.paris (not even a .com!)
Why did you start investing in domains? Please tell us the story.
A: Shortly after I got my Bachelor Degree in Economics, my life took a drastic turn: I lost eyesight due to diabetes. With 30% vision left in one eye I've been looking for something to get me excited about work again. It took me a while but I finally found domains. Like so many others, I kind of felt like I missed the boat since I've been working with domain names for so long and failed to recognize this side of the business. But I still believe we can do beautiful things with it and the future looks bright if you ask me! I'm excited to meet the people, hear their stories and put my 2 cents in to help the business grow!
If you have any question for me, feel free to contact me.. I'm here to meet and greet
