domain Hello All...Newbie here!

I own numerous (256) domains that I've been accumulating since 1995. I never intended to sell them, just develop them as I got closer to retirement. Most of the domains I own most likely won't be worth much from what I've reading in these forums for the past three weeks. You see, the domains I own are for web development pertaining to my side business(es).

I thought I'd through a couple up in the forum here to get a feel and taste of how the domain resale business works as a starting point, or learning point. I can see the people in these forums have great knowledge about this subject. I find it hard to believe others argue their point so diligently. I guess if one makes an investment in buying domains for resale, one feels strongly they will resell based on some criteria I don't understand at this point.

I wasn't sure which forum thread to start with so I thought I'd start with this one. I know of the newbie thread but I wasn't getting much from it as I read through it. I figure If I throw up some domains for appraisals and read the feedback from you folks I'll gain more knowledge that way.

These are just a few as as you can tell I'm involved with advertising and marketing. If I don't sell them, I'll develop them as I originally intended. I threw a few .com's, .net's, .mobi's to see what kind of feedback I get.

I do have them pointed to sedo and godaddy, just recently to gather income while they sit. Not sure if this was good idea or not yet.

Along with any feedback, tools, ideas on resale would be great.

3VS.NET sure have some high XX to low XXX value there.

the rest are a little long, but since you are developing it, then it might be able to rank quite well in the Search engines.

A couple of you mentioned 3vs.net and orderfreecatalogs.com as having potential value. I was hoping to get some insight as to what criteria you may be using to come to those conclusions. This is were I'm having trouble with the art of the domain appraisal process.

Overture results
google results
3 char .coms and .nets are good.
one famous dictionary are good, e.g business.com
country .com is good.. e.g america.com
high paying keywords are good... e.g mesothalamia

you will learn more of their values once you gain experience.

Okay, I took your advice and looked into Overture results and I think I see your point. I do own domains that have good potential with keyword rankings once I develop them, but I kind of new that already, that's why I bought them. This time I looked at it from a resale standpoint and while going through that process I found some domains that had good Overture and Yahoo results, so I bought them to see if I'm getting it.

In looking at the above domains I just reg, do they have potential?

I also placed a couple into SEDO's appraisal process just to see how that goe's. I did it just to educate myself with the system.
