Good day all. I own about 4000 domains. i bought them over the past few years to drive traffic to a real estate operation I own. Most of the domains are of the long tail variety and are targeted specifically to what I do.

However, I do own a bunch of domains that is too general for my company so I am considering what to do with them.

I have names such as:

Atlanta-RealEstate.com

I have 250ish Location-RealEstate.com sites as well as a few others...

Those have been just sitting in my account and I havent had the time to get most of those sites spun up as a functioning site yet.

If you were me, how would you go about selling these?? What are they worth?

All answers and advice appreciated!

Duane

Duane -

I was reviewing the keyword "-RealEstate" at NameBio.com to see if I could find any sales comparables. I would imagine a solid city name couple with "-RealEstate.com" would hold some value. However because I cant find sales comparables, Im not sure how much. Clearly a hyphen in a domain name is unfortunately a large value killer, however depending on the age of these domain names and which of course cities, regions, states you have before them, you may be able to procure a buyer.

If you would like me to review your domain names, please feel free to shoot me an email with list of names to (support<at>domainspade.com). I would be more than happy to give you a rough estimate and suggest potential options for you as well.

Thanks,
Justin

I've did that before, purchased hundreds of domain names to drive traffic to one site, its long an hard, id never do it again though.

RealEstate names are pricey, but without the '-'s , my opinion, if you own 250 location-RealEstate is to sell them all at once.

You could probably make a nice tidy $10 on each at least.

Im not sure I agree with this statement. Although in general the hyphen does hurt value, I believe some of your domain names, if in solid markets, could still have potential for nice resale, especially if they have age on them.

I mean if he/she sells them all at once, as a bulk package to a real estate developer.

I understand what you mean, however I do believe there is quite a bit more potential then $10 profit per name. I think if he has strong names, like Atlanta - he could do substantially better.
