Have you ever bought the lot and if so,did it pay off or do you think it's a waste of money?

Meaning the same name in all of those extensions at once?

Yes, but I can't give you a straight response, because it was not for profit. I really only got traffic on the .com name, but that was the main one that was promoted.

That's an interesting question. I never been able to accomplish that with the types of keywords that interest me. If someone were able to get all six extensions and intended to build/promote a service or operational website (not just parking), it would be a good idea to register all of them.

I can safely tell you there is no natural traffic whatsoever for any name that is presently available in all (6) extensions. So you must be looking to build and promote I assume.

Yes,I mean the same name in all extensions mentioned.
I'm interested in knowing mainly for selling of a made up brandable name.
In selling,do you think it adds value to the com by having the lot?Is it a good selling point?

After developing one of my social sites, and the traffic starting to reach to 400/day I decided to snap up the net/org/info before someone else got the wise idea to do so. I have noticed that the .org gets a fair amount of traffic (all redirected to the .com) the .net/.info get hardly any type ins. But I did purchase the set (minus the biz/us as I see them as being useless) to sweeten the deal if I ever decided to sell.

It would be sufficient to get the .com .net .org and just maybe the .info IMHO. :)

I would think that if your purpose is development you should, but if your purpose is resale or parking, probably not.

I'v never done it myself but if you're planning a big, longterm site then it would'nt hurt to get them all if they were available (and you could afford reg fees on them all for years).

I recently had a lowball xx,xx offer on a short brandable 1996 domain of mine - The company which looks pretty big just went ahead and registered the .net, .org, .biz, .info, .eu and their country extension instead ! :'(

If it had been an American company I'm pretty sure they would have needed the .com too !

Just hold on for like 5 more years and they'll realize their folly. :D

Nope. Unless you're going to develop a site like Google or Myspace, I don't see the need. If you're gonna just sit on the names undeveloped & resell, it'll be a waste of money unless it's a very nice keyword IMO
