Hey all,

Just wondering how many people have been ripped off after buying something at eBay.

So far for me: A 160GB HDD, and a script (I can't really remember lol).

How about you all?

I've never bought anything from Ebay, only sold stuff -
and I have been ripped off by a buyer. to the
tune of about $175.00 USD

Funny thing was ebay and paypal assisted in the scam
Ebay left him on there to rip off about 15 more people
(current neg's)
And paypal kept honoring his c/c chargebacks!

Their all crooks!

:imho:

I'm sweating delivery of a DVD I ordered for a neighbor just now (heading toward 2 weeks) and once had a bad experience in receiving a defective RAM module..

My bad eBay experiences have been with non-paying bidders...

Nearly eveything on eBay is a rip-off. All the stuff I've bought has been sub-standard tat.

I've gotten alot of good buys on eBay..

These days, for me, it seems to be better for buying rather than selling.. and even that is a chore as you have to wade thru tons of junk auctions.

I haven't done well selling there in ages.. I rarely bother anymore because I've re-discovered an ancient secret: sell OFFLINE! D-:

Selling offline automatically cuts down on the competition and usually garners a bit better price.. I had some collector plates that were selling as low as 99 cents on eBay because there were so many of the same and sold them to my neighbor for $30 each instead. It was a win-win situation.. I was happy and my neighbors were happy too.

Hi all,

I bought what I thought was an original SanDisk 1GB Ultra II SD card a few months back for my digital camera. It ended up being a counterfeit copy! :td: I contacted SanDisk and asked them about it and sent them pictures of the SD card and packaging and they confirmed that it was fake. When I found out that it was fake I contacted PayPal and filed a dispute and also filed a dispute with ebay as well. I ended up getting my money back from PayPal and ebay closed the seller's account.

I have since bought a real SanDisk 1GB Ultra II SD card and the fake copy almost looks identical to the real one. Those people that make the fake SanDisk copies sure know what they are doing since the fake looked so much like the real card.

Take care,

Counterfeits or Phantom Collectables are quickly becoming the bane of both the online and offline world..

Here in the Midwest there are tons of "antique" malls but so much of what is being sold these days are either fakes or items manuafactured to look like a vintage item that was never actually produced.. people, particularly the tourist trade, are getting ripped off every day.

Sellers are blantantly selling what they term "special discs" on eBay instead of original video game discs, for example.

Buyer Beware!

i bought 2 football jerseys(UK clubs) about 3 years ago from a seller located in thailand. i i paid $60 for b oth, and never got the product till this day. ebay customer support also sucked so badly by then , so i couldn't get much help either. i am not really likely to buy something from someone shipping it from a non-north american continent.

Most fake games are being sold from Hong Kong or Taiwan. I never buy games from out-of-country sellers. Also check feedback well. I really haven't been ripped off for anything meaningful. I am pretty diligent on my purchases. I been on Ebay since 97 (9 years for you mathematically challenged members). I use to sell a few hundred items per month. Hmm...I do recall back years ago when I use to not ship with tracking and buyers would claim to have never gotten item that I know we shipped. I quickly learned to ship all items with tracking and now I don't have that problem. I also had a couple buyers claim the item I sent wasn't correct meanwhile I know for a fact it was. I remember selling a brand new unopened Halo and the guy said it wouldn't play...so I said return for an exchange....it came back all scratched to hell...total bullcrap and I refused his exchange.

After 9 years though...minimal problems. Same with paypal (less problems than Ebay even). I also sell games on Amazon but their cut is HUGE in comparison to Ebay but people do pay the higher prices just to have a better policy. Amazon does a great job of covering everyone in a deal.

one time i won an auction for a turnkey hotornot clone with 6 months hosting
i didnt want the hosting just the stuff on my own server.. they said a $50 charge would be made to change hosts... i tried downloading script and setting it up but it was encrypted so eded up with nothing

i buy games from ebay all the time from other countries
some games arnt sold in new zealand.
very hard to find the games aswell in PAL format so get them from the UK
no problems yet other than a guy paying to little for shipping so it came by boat and took 2 months+ but atleast i got it

i like ebay.. your always going to encounter scammers paying for anything on the internet.. ive been scammed more on namepros than ebay D-:
