I am just wondering because they say they mail out a check, when I have paypal on account, seems very old school, just wondering if anyone has been paid yet, as I sold some domains at the beginning of FEB, I didn't even get an email that they sold, I was wondering where they money is, and usually they just pay via paypal, but from their help screen it says chq? Anyone been paid via paypal on the PREM 30% COMMMISSION LISTINGS?

Thank You for any help

Payment for the sale of your Premium Listing depends on how the domain name was sold.
If Your Premium Listing is Sold Through GoDaddy.com

The following information applies to a Premium Listing sold through GoDaddy.com.

* There is a 30 percent commission charged on the sale price of a Premium Listing.
* Payment is made within 45 days after the last day of the month in which the sale occurred. Example: The Premium Listing sells on January 1. Payment for the sale is made by March 15.
* Payment is made by check and mailed using address information in the account where the Premium Listing resides:
o The payee address, if present.
o Account Owner address, if no payee has been defined.

I understood payment takes close to two months but in the example you cited above I suppose it could be up to 75 days. I suppose in the next two to three weeks I will get a check for several January sales.

Godaddy send out the checks on time as per their guidelines and I have received quite a few.

Sales in January means the check gets cut end Feb and (as I am in the UK) I should get my check around end first week in March if the postal service does not mess up.

Sales in February means a similar check around first week in April.

If you are in other countries the postal service from USA to your country may affect exactly when you receive the check.

Banking systems also vary which will determine when you actually get the funds credited to your account. Here in the UK I am lucky that HSBC credit my account with the funds on the day the check is paid in even though it may take a couple of weeks for them to actually negotiate it. Of course they reserve the right to debit the funds if the check bounces!!!

Obviously it can be very frustrating if a sale is made at the very beginning of the month but not quite so bad if the sale is at the end of the month.

I had 3 sales in the first week of Feb, all with domains that were parked and pointed to sedo, yet the buyers all (3) different decided to use godaddy instead of sedo, which worries me, but also shows the Fixed Price concept works, and maybe the fact godaddy is more of a trusted and known name in NA than sedo, 45 days for payment, and snail mail chq in the mail, not a fan, but what can you do.

Sold one, but no email notification of sale or anything, sort of strange, no ownership change email or anything, if I didn't check I would never have known.

That sounds very strange.
What did you check in order to find out that one had sold?

I can't believe, not even a sales notification email... lol

edit.........................

I see it now
My Selling List >>>Sold

Well it has become routine to check everyday, if you go to the prem. listing page in godaddy menu, you will find it within their site, it says sold price and comm % rate, but never a date, only way I know is because I check on a daily basis. I have heard from other sellers as well they were never informed I emailed godaddy, but the ticket got escalated hopefully a response on monday, maybe just a glitch in their system, I only ever got a email for the first one I sold, never for the ones after that.

First GD Prem domain sold, was a learning lesson, because the seller made me an offer on sedo's MAKE AN OFFER for $1800, but I had it listed on GD PREM, for $12XX, so the buyer somehow found the domain via GD PREM listing, and bought it off there, before I could respond to sedo offer and pull the domain from GD, so I took a 30% comm. hit at GD, and $500 less sale fee, ended up losing on potential of $600, all of my GD prem listings that have sold were parked at sedo, the buyer has to punch in the domain into their browser before even attempting to consider a purchase, they are bypassing sedo, the 20% upcharge in commission hurts, not having the power to counter offer etc can be a little bit of a disadvantage when selling to an end user. Fixed pricing is very hard to nail in that sweet spot range for both sides, as if you price to high, then the person will not even consider making the offer via another channel such as sedo, but if you price to low, and you have an end user out there, minus 30% comm. you are on the losing end once again.

So you really need to know the market, and sometimes technologies change, you could have 3 yr old 3DTV domains sitting at low $xxx amounts, have to keep re-evaluating your domains, and pricing.

Well you said it well,
You really have to know your Market.

Then you have to come up with a firm price in your head, offer it on GD Premium Listing + 30%.
and offer it on Sedo for the price you want exactly, or add a few bucks to it, so the buyer can feeel like there is a bit of negotiating room.

You have to give credit to the buyer for knowing to check both MarketPlaces.
He must have JUST learned about the GD Premium MarketPlace, otherwise he prob. wouldn't have made an offer to you for $1800. at Sedo first.

Sorry about your $500 loss, hopefully, you still made more money then your initial investment.

I like the fact that we have one more option to sell so easily. That is definitely one more reason to keep our domains at GoDaddy, and not transfer out.

Well, we learn something new everyday, Thx.

Well Godaddy is so well known in the north american market, especially with the super bowl ads, I think it is more well trusted by first time users than sedo, and they instantly transfer the domain into that persons godaddy account right away, really hassle free if you think about being a buyer who just needs a domain name, and doesn't want to know about the entire process of transferring etc, Only reason I ever parked my domains at sedo was for their sales platform, I am not sure if they are doing proactive advertising, maybe sponsor some business conventions etc... get their name out there....

That's great advice!

And you can plan and manage all the market places you post to so they all reflect the same pricing.

I was recently surprised by an email from a buyer with what I considered to be a low offer for one of my names, so I countered with the price I was asking in GD Premium Listings. A couple of days later I got an email from GoDaddy saying the name had been sold. Now, that was a surprise.

I'm glad to know that Premium Listings work, though. That name was listed for about four months with no bites.

Thanks for letting us know when we can expect to get paid, too!!

yesterday added premium listings at godaddy while other window is at sedo to check prices to adjust to make an offer , as stated you could sell the name twice on the same day , so all sedos are now make offer.

Let us know how it goes, I bet some of those 3D domains might sell quick on there.
