Let's see who can acquire the best .COM hand registration during the month of March? "Best" will be determined by your peers. You have to create it during the month of March 2019. As long as it says created 03-2019 it could have been a name born before that died and lost its age. Let me be clear, for this March contest the name has to be a new DOT COM hand reg that you own.

Here are the rules of this DOT COM HAND REG MARCH 2019 contest:

1. Hand registration during the month of March 2019.
2. You may submit up to 7 domain names. (Each name submitted must have it's OWN Reply post).
3. So if you want to submit 7 names, submit SEVEN separate Reply posts.
4. I am excluding myself from entering the contest, since I am facilitating the event!
5. The Top 20 Finalist will be selected the following way .---> (10) "Likes" entries with the most "Likes" in the thread and (10) Wildcard entries selected by a team of 5 panelist from the NamePros community. The 5 panelist will be announced after month end to avoid mid-month lobbying. Additionally, the 5 panelist (Wildcard pickers) will be be non-participants in the contest to avoid a conflict of interest and will be respected NPros members that have a wealth of experience in domaining. The panelist members will be a familiar lot.
6. The WINNER will be selected by your peers via a TOP 20 POLL from the Top 20 Finalist mentioned above.
7. The TOP 20 POLL will occur at the end of the month. This will be a 72 hour poll.
8. We welcome EVERYONE to participate in selecting the WINNER from the Top 20 Finalist list.
9. In the event of a TIE during with winner polling, the tie-breaker will go to the WINNER with the earlier submission posted to this thread. (a plan to avoid any misunderstand should a tie occur)

TOP 20 Finalist
  • Finalist Pick 10 - those 10 names with the most "likes" make it to the Top 20 (user involvement).
  • Finalist Pick 10 - those 10 names that a panel selects make it to the Top 20 (panel involvement).
  • Top 20 Poll - this involves everyone, but only for a 72 hour window at month end (ALL involvement).

What do you win?

  • Number one, props and recognition here at Namepros.
  • I will personally pay $20 JACKPOT (via PayPal) to the WINNER.
  • Anyone wishing to contribute an additional $0.30 to the Jackpot - contact me via PM - and I will add your contribution on top of the $20 Jackpot I have committed (let's see how large a Jackpot we can build).

*** SPOTLIGHT ***

upload_2019-3-12_18-55-48.png

While sorting the current Contest Summary Report by "Likes" this morning, I noticed a few Participants had more than one Entry in the Top 50 ranking. It appears they have an eye for finding solid Hand Regs and the audience is posting "Likes" to those Entries. Congrats!

This got me thinking that I should start a "Spotlight" program in this thread, so we could learn a little bit about their domaining journey and ask them to share a few insights with us..

This will be our 1st Spotlight post with our guest: @creataweb

I think you will like the "Spotlight" program as each individual shares a bit about their domaining background, the sites & tools they use, the current industry sectors they see as promising, along with a little advise for those new to the business.

It's a mini-interview series of 4-5 direct questions and I hope you enjoy piece. (see below).

----------------------------------------------

Q & A with @creataweb

1) What year did you register your 1st domain? How long have you been an active domainer?
In the 1990s I attempted to reg. my first name. However, back then it was not instant and I got a notice it was not available later on and had to claw back a refund and that put me off a little bit so I stopped. Then around late 2001 or early 2002 I got back into it for personal project purposes and starting buying domains but not necessarily to resell. Had my first inbound offer & sale soon after and decided to try selling some names along with developing projects and have been doing that ever since. I joined other well known forums back in 2002 and was a late-comer to NP in 2005.

2) What is your preferred Registrar for Hand Registering domains?
I like NetSol for most names when the $1 promo is running. When that is not available I prefer Namesilo or Epik.

3) What are your preferred Topics / Industry Sectors that you see as promising?
Robotics, CBD / MJ / Hemp for industry and Phrase domains, 5L, 2 word combos and brandables similar to words for others.

4) What sales channel(s), platform(s), or sales landing page site(s) do you use?
Was using Afternic, Sedo etc but have switched to Undeveloped 100% for now. UD does a good job of trying to chase down buyers after offers are accepted and has a fair 9% fee (no worries about hoops to jump through with Escrow or getting CC chargebacks on PayPal from scammers so 9% is a good trade-off.) Afternic changed payment processor again and did not disclose who it is and wants too much info to be sent to a secret 3rd party so I have stopped using them for now. Sedo I will be using again but have to re-verify all my domains and price them accordingly which takes time. I am not using any brandable markets right now either because commissions are too high and sales are too low for the average user.

5) Any suggestions for someone new to domaining?
Read the NP forum a lot before buying names blindly and losing money. Check sales and trends and study study study.

*** I have attached a new PDF version of the Summary Chart ***

Sorted by "LIKES" voting

Show attachment 112354

The Entry "Likes" are provided by the NamePros community on this thread and (at month end) the Top 10 on this list will automatically be added to Top 20 Finalist Round.

You will notice a few NP members have an eye for finding good Hand Regs and have multiple Entries in the current Top 20 "Likes" Chart. A skill in its own.

I have decided to spotlight a few of these members in this thread. The "Participant Spotlights" will be posted over the next 7 days in this thread to share their thoughts with everyone..

I think you will like the "Spotlight" pieces as each individual shares a bit about their domaining background, the sites & tools they use, the current industry sectors they see as promising, along with a little advise for those new to the business.

I hope you enjoy the attached "Likes" report and the upcoming "Spotlight" posts..

Q & A with @Radu054

1) What year did you register your 1st domain? How long have you been an active domainer?

My first hand registration was in 2017 and from then on I am an active domainer, learning something new everyday.

2) What is your preferred Registrar for Hand Registering domains?

Preferred registrar for hand registering: Namesilo. I might hand reg in the future with Epik as well.

3) What are your preferred Topics / Industry Sectors that you see as promising?

I usually focus on 2 word .coms that I feel are worth buying, I have a little bit of everything ( Crypto domains, Cannabis domains, VR domains, 4L.coms, aged .nets )

I think Cannabis and VR (or XR)/ Holo domains have a promising future. Also, there is a lot of money in "Organic"/"Green"/"Eco" domains, but those require the right words.

4) What sales channel(s), platform(s), or sales landing page site(s) do you use?

I mainly use Undeveloped.com, but I also have my domains with Afternic ( mostly make offer on both). Outbound has worked for me only once ( when I sold the domain to a broker for a mere $90 for a handreg . net) so inbound is the way to go for me. When I feel I have a winner, I ask opinions on potential end users ( other domainer's clients) in private here on Namepros, but nothing has materialized up to now from those.

5) Any suggestions for someone new to domaining?

Read, read, read everyday, listen to Domain Sherpa, look through Namebio everyday, check the reported sales thread on Namepros everyday. Whenever you have a question, ask. You can find a lot of great people here on Namepros that have a lot more experience than you and that are willing to help if you're willing to listen.

Also, when you have a hunch about a name that is affordable ( after getting some experience), go for it and do the research afterwards. I lost many domains on Close-outs or on NP because in the time I did the research, someone else bought the domain.
