GreatDomains.me issue or not?

Hello,

I have registered GreatDomains.me and would like to develop a site for .me domains only. Do you think I am going to run into issues because of sedo? Both words are generic.

I think it's generic enough for you to not run in to any issues, just make sure the content is irrelevant to the TM.

thanks npcomplete. i don't want to sound rude but how can i trademark such generic words. it would be the same thing me trademarking "good" "day".

maybe if i would offer the identical service on my site they could do something. otherwise i don't think they can take the domain away.

Speaking of "Good Day" - there are some U.S. registered TMs for that, including 1062358 regged on the Principal Register Mar-29-1977 for bread and bacon products ...

Bingo. Quite often more than one company may use the same mark assuming, for example, they're using it for different products and/or in a different market.

A TM does NOT automatically entitle one to the similar looking domain name(s) nor vice-versa...

However, there are a lot of IFs - owning any domain name, as with most any asset, is potentially legally risky - that's just the nature of business. Ultimately it comes down to managing risk - making responsible decisions about what domains to register and how one utilizes them.

another factor to consider is the ill-will you will create with a dominant aftermarket site. that cannot be of benefit. look forward- you now have your portal running and once you are showing up in google, will be when Great Domains takes the name from you.
