designing a website with quite a few graphics

I'm starting to get into using a few more graphics in my webpages but am finding it difficult to make them to the right size. If I do them 1024 in width it's fine in firefox but not in ie, could you please cast some light on what I should be doing and how do you allow for menu boxes to grow etc.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Well to keep your images the size you want them to be in any resolution, you could place your setup in a table to 100% width wihich will adjust according.

I'm assuming, by 1024 width, you meant the resolution, no? If not, could you explain what you want to achieve in better detail?

Can you post your website's URL?

you shouldn't make your website 1024 because people with 800 x 600 resolution will have to scroll sideways and that is so annoyin

Exactly!

Always try and keep your layouts as small as possible!

yah dont make the images to big, and a suggestion, dont use to many images as it slows down the download speed of your site, and if it takes to long to download, people will jsut turn away from your site

No more than 760px across.

It will fit snugly in any screen res of 800x600px and higher. You have to accomodate for scrollbars and extra toolbars too. Also remember that some people don't have their windows maximised - like me.

All depends. Usually I make a site 780px wide because there still are people out there that are living in 1995. I would say you can do auto stretch with 100% and just have small logos and stuff with background colors.

That is almost as easy as an answer...!

All that u hav to do is first decide what the size of the graphic must be that has to be inserted in the page.

Then after creating tht graphic you hav to insert it in the place where you want it to be and the size of the image should be the same.

Here, size means the height and the width...!

ALL THE BEST!

Tehre are some tips, to make layout viewable in all browsers and resolutions. Like Table width=100% height=100%, or 1px*1px spacer.gif. Check at Google, as it will give you alot of sites.
