Got my first ticket today...

Where I live, our houses are really close together. We have rock driveway on the side of the house and it kinda makes an L shape and it goes in the front of our house as well. We live on a dead end street on the left side. I got home late Friday night; around 1:30am. I parked in the front driveway and went to bed.

I woke up this morning to find a ticket on my car. Apparently I was parked facing the wrong way... in my own driveway. I guess maybe my two right tires were touching the pavement. Apparently cops have nothing else to do at 4:21 am? It was only $10, but I mean, come on...

It poured all day Friday. Huge puddles build up in front of my house covering part of the driveway and the road. If I had parked the "legal" way, I wouldn't have been able to get out of my car.

Don't feel bad I got a $165.00 ticket a couple weeks ago doing 85 in a 65....oops

In NYC that would have been a $100 or more ticket..be grateful.

I didn't even know $10 tickets even existed! Your very lucky it wasn't anything more. BTW, aren't you allowed to park the way you want in your own driveway?

Thats exactly the reason I was so shocked that I got the ticket

The last ticket I got was for $260 for 'Disorderly Conduct - Excessive Acceleration' (about a year ago)... so again, $10 is peanuts, be gratefull.

(I wen to court and got it reduced to like $190, but still alot more then $10)

You mentioned your tires were touching the street, if any part of your vehicle is in the street, it has to be oriented in the correct direction. I almost got a ticket last year for the same thing, But I was just running in the house to get something then leaving again, and got out of the house before cop wrote the ticket, so he just gave me a warning.

I see SOOO many other cars improperly parked, yet it only seems that cars from our household get ticketed !

$10 is nothing, you're pretty lucky!

A couple of months ago, my Uncle and his wife both got speeding tickets the same day (driving at different hours, different car) and both of their tickets were expensive! I'm pretty sure each was $200 or more.

That really sucked for them :p

I had my car impounded for parking in a church car park and had to pay a release fee of $495.00

meh if it was worth it, you can take it to court and win... We can take pretty much any speeding ticket to court and win against it (my uncle gets 1-2 a month and wins in court for them all but maybe 1 time a year)
