When my girlfriend moved out, she took our ferret with her (because we'd basically bought it for her daughter) and then it disappeared the first night at her new place and hasn't been seen since.

I went out and got another one a couple days ago.. his name is Weasel and he's 6 months old. Here is is with his "foster mommy" Emily (one of the neighbor kids):

Got him and the cage, both for $90.

:hearts:

P.S.: He's not really demonic, just has red eyes!

Thats a better deal than furby lol

lol. ... Farrets are great. Wish someday we can make room for one at my house for my daughters. $90 for pet and cage is a great deal!

It's actually what they call a 4-story "townhouse"..

Yeah, buying Furby and his cage, etc set me back over $200, only to have him disappear a few months later.

Still makes me sick wondering what happened to him. Rumor has it he somehow got hit by a car but my girlfriend denies it.

I prefer cats but as long as your little girl is happy, nice!

His water dish is on the second level and he sleeps (sometimes) on the third level, tho he dragged a t-shirt down to the bottom floor to sleep. I suspect he must have fallen off once while sleeping ;)

Funny, while I was typing this, he managed to drag his can off ferret treats off the window seat and onto the bed, trying to pry the plastic lid off. Doesn't take them long to learn where the "good stuff" is.

She's just a neighbor, was friends with my girlfriend's kids. And they're a lot like cats with a bit of puppy thrown in.

Do ferrets get along with cats or kittens? I have 2 grown cats. I'm thinking my cats wouldn't get along with a ferret as they would probably think it was just a huge fuzzy squirrel and pounce. Kitten maybe?

Awwwww - cute :)!

I like ferrets - I don't see myself ever getting one, I have enough of a zoo around here already - but they're fun.

I know people who've had a ferret with cats, but it's never out unsupervised. Someone could get hurt, and not necessarily the ferret (they have a wicked bite!)

I don't trust any animals together unsupervided.. even then, something unpleasant can happen in the blink of an eye.

What do you feed Weasel Dave?

Ferrets (should) have very strict high protein diets, so I only feed him small children (er, I mean, quality ferret chow and treats). Marshall ferrets under warranty are required to eat only Marshall ferret food but it's expensive (surprise!) and not the best out there.

They're strictly meat eaters with finicky, short digestive tracts.. the things they shouldn't eat make up a long list. Many have a sweet tooth but they shouldn't have any sugar as it can cause insulinoma long term.

Some put their ferrets on raw (meat) diets..

All I know is he already knows the treat can and if I'm eating or drinking, he wants to know what it is!

By the way, ferrets aren't rodents.. they eat and kill rodents. Hard to believe, watching them frolick around and play, that they could kill anything.

Don't feed your ferret jalapenos:

They are one of the most efficient predators known. ALL SHOULD BE SHOT ON SIGHT. Exactly what I do when I see any or hear of any illegally kept as pets.

BTW so should Most GF's

Fortunately, both ferrets and girlfriends are legal in this part of the state. Of the two, I vote they outlaw girlfriends tho. :bingo:

They're better than just smart.. they're clever, good at doping out how to get in things and what route to take to get there.

lol. Hilariously funny. Wow these fuzzy guys are smart. They know right away to drink water. Not sure cats and dogs would instinctively know that.
