I guess they ain't patenting RSS feeds, they are just patenting their advertising feed thing

Well, it IS the technology behind it, which is the RSS. Maybe i'm misunderstanding it.

there were plenty of news and weather sites providing RSS before google started adsense. It's just that google took that to Next-Level.

Its how they target the ad for the rss. I hope this doesn't go through, I wanna see some competition from Yahoo.

Well, if google brought the idea forward then I guess it is their right to get it patented.
