Forbes reports that Google says it will now begin allowing advertisers to run ads that mention COVID-19. BUT only in selected sectors like government or health care. From the article:

"The company had been “broadly blocking” ads since January to protect users and to prevent anyone from capitalizing on short-term events such as natural disasters.

However, in the article, it seems that there is a small group of advertising types allowed:

"Google says it will begin allowing advertisers to run ads that mention COVID-19.

In an email to advertisers today, Mark Beatty, Google’s head of industry for elections, pointed out that the coronavirus “has become an ongoing and important part of everyday conversation, including a relevant topic in political discourse and for many advertisers in different sectors.”

The company has begun allowing advertisers working directly with issues related to the pandemic such as government entities, hospitals, medical workers and NGOs with plans to later add other advertisers such as political organizations."
