Google Sites

Has anyone been making any of these? Do you think this will go anywhere?

No adsense allowed at the moment unfortunately, but I'm wondering if it's worth making some sites now for the future.

i've got a few early google page creator (GPC) minisites. i imagine google sites has similar problems. i find my wordpress ones easier to update and change things, so i'm slowly changing them all over to that.

GPC is fine for static one page things that you don't need to update, and you're happy with the (ugh!) defaults. quite un-hackable and weird 90s clunky templates.

but there's also no backup required for the google ones.

I'm not sure. Is page creator just a cms?

I think Google sites allows you a free subdomain of sorts - albeit with whatever restrictions Google imposes.
E.g. sites.google.com/sites/[your site]

A lot of the good ones are already taken, so I would have thought lots of people from Namepros might be into this.

there's been word about google sites challenging microsoft sharepoint, which does the same community portal type of thing.
