^yup that's what most of the webmasters are using to get the keywords data.

Also be aware that the options there of Broad, Phrase, and Exact are really important to consider carefully - they are very different.
Phrase and Exact will generally be more meaningful for most purposes.

I suppose that is statistic for the Ads and not for the general google search

no. it is for the number of search queries matching the keywords that were performed on Google. it is indeed for the general google search.

Depends on what you're trying to measure ...

Exact is usually best for estimating keyphrase search volume and evaluating keyword domains. The numbers are your EXACT keyphrase - no additional words, in that same word order.

Phrase match shows usage of your keywords in that exact order, but includes searches with other words before/after it.

Broad match shows all searches with any or all of the keywords - this can include other words, the keywords can be in a different order. It has it's uses, but it can be misleading.

There's often a big difference between exact match searches and broad match searches.

Google explains it best and gives examples:

Great research tools

using the keyword tool is great if you are developing some mini sittes because you can easily find "keywords phrases" that generate plenty of searches in one month. But you need to research again how hard it would eb to rank for those terms.

Yes, I use the google tool as mentioned above and I also double check it against keyword discovery:

http://www.keyworddiscovery.com/search.html

This normally gives a good idea of how popular the keyword is and if it merits developing a mini-site to cater for the market. Checking the cost per click with Google adwords is also a good thing to do so that you are not creating a site for clicks that will only earn you 5c each.
