So a few weeks ago I was 2nd page and was wishing to come first place for the terms " Toronto Airport Limo" so I changed my Title to "Toronto Airport Limo - Parkview Limo - Toronto LImo " from " parkview Limo - Toronto Airport limo - Toronto Limo" and now all of a sudden Im on the third page. I have supplied my website to many directories with my first title. Could the title changing be the problem. Please Advise me thank you!

no, the title change wouldn't be the problem; it was the right decision.

it could be many many things including things that are beyond your control like competitors, algorithm updates, etc. just keep making the right seo moves and hopefully you'll rise in rankings over time.

no, keep the title as "Toronto Airport Limo - Parkview Limo - Toronto LImo " if you're trying to rank for " Toronto Airport Limo." it's the right move, although its effect might not have rippled through yet.

If you are dealing in limo rentals, then use the following title:

Rent a Toronto Airport Limo

And point a couple good links with that same anchor text. Wait for a week or two. Report your results here.

What about this title?

Cheap Toronto Airport Limo

Or put anything non-keyword in front and use it as title.

Here is what you should do..

Make a list of keywords.

Choose 3 or 4 out of them.

Select the main 2 keywords and stuff them up in the title.

For rest create another page or a blog post with good and unique content.

Get backlinks for that pages with the anchor text being the variants of the related keywords.

Sit tight and everything will work out itself.

Google doesn't give that much importance to your title. Improve more on your offpage factors - more backlinks with those anchor texts should be able to make a difference.

Great advice. I have seen my name blog coming on 1st page for rather unrelevant keyword which is not even used in URL or Title and I was able to target that with the Off page factors.

i'd have to partially agree here. google does give a lot of weight to a page's title, but off-page factors can overcome the importance of a title. so for new pages, i would suggest focusing on that title tag and then going to build backlinks after.

Shockie you are right. See when we have the benefit of changing the title then it makes our task much easier. So the offpage side does gets a lot of help from the onpage factors.

If someone is going to go completely off page, then also it will need atleast one time mention of that word (s) on the page itself. Because without that the search engine will not rank you in that particular niche.

EX: You can rank for "beautiful girls" keyword from this page.

But it does have to be atleast mentioned once. The word or words together or different.

Nice put.

I did a little experiment on backlink anchor texts vs. title - was able to rank for several non-existing words in the title of the directory. This was all due to the offpage side.

I agree with Shockie. the title tag is important and should be optimized, but linking is critical.
