Google ads on celeb picture based site

Is it worth it? I am doing a celeb picture site, it will get few thousand uniques a day to start with and will grow and Google ads will be the ads I run on there but just wondering if it will be worth it, the clicks probably wont generate much per click.

Anyone tried google ads on a celeb pic based site, how did it do?

yes I have a celeb based site, google adsense sucked for it. i think in 3 months i only earned $30 or something...i recently switched to cpm with paypopup.com and its making more than it did with adsense.

How many hits were you getting? I am thinking of putting a bio of each celeb on the pic page and maybe that will help.

It can be worth it.

I run a celeb photo/wallpaper site and use google.

I get approx 1200 uniques and 60k pageviews a day and make anywhere between 1-5$ day in adsence which is not to great.

I found CPM is better for photo sites, however they are had to get into with good pay rates. I make 0.10 per 1000 page views any the company cant fill all my inventory so its only displaying about 25k banners during that.

I currently run Adsence and a CPM campaign on my site and the CPM banners make more. I wont run popup ads, as I hate them. But i think intersitals(sp?) would work well, forcing a ad display between some pages.

Google is for text based pages. Photo pages dont get good CTR. You get alot of PSA's and need to add Key relevant text to photo pages to trigger adds. This is not easy trust me.

Google can work, but you need good traffic numbers for it to pay off.

I will also say that the better your site is, the worse your ctr is. When I first started my site was not a the best, and I was getting $100+ month from the same traffic. Now with the site looking good and working right I am lucky to break $50 per month.

Thanks for the replies, pardon my ignorance but whats CTR and PSA?

I will do my best to get the best ads showing, meta tags/title the page properly/title the images with the alt tag and as I say use bio's but even if celeb based ads come up I doubt they are worth much per click, what other stuff can I run on there ads wise? Maybe Adbrite but those don't show relevant ads but have been ppc I think.

hey @tgo, can u pls tell me how to create more traffic for celeb sites? mine is a free wallpaper hobby site. i mean, how do i advertise them, which are the popular directories etc? cud u also give details on good CPM advertisers, cos i dont think people click on my google adsense a lot :p. TIA

I try to exchange with any site, pr or traffic is no matter to me from exchanges usualy.

If you have good wallpapers and a good site, http://celebritydesktop.com/ is a really good one to get on, with as many differant celebrities as possible.

Forum posting if you have unique wallpapers made by you. Your site isnt up so I cant see how you are serving the wallpapers(page or just the image) if you have a page set up just link them from there.

yeah i know. i did it to my self :p i crawled my site yesterday using a crawler and sucked up my own b/w. my reasoning was since it was the 31st, it would be ok today. still havent got it up, even though the admin said that he wud do it soon. oh well. cheap hosting..... and its a hobby site. i got a LOT of pics, but they are from sites like skins.be, desktop girls etc. i have atleast 2Gb of wallpapers, but i hosted only 1Gb due to cost. pics are on photobucket and linked to my site. am planning to takedown all pics and upload only the better ones. currently i just blindly uploaded pics :p
