I find this very curious - given the nature of domaining and domain name development, the Google MayDay update has hardly made any waves in the Domainer Community.

As a domainer, domain developer and content creator, I see it as significant. If unique content is responsible for your organic traffic and thus revenue, then it should concern you too..

I found the video that Matt Cutts made regarding the algorithm update (at the bottom of the article) and simply researched it - it is all over the web development and SEO community but failed to make a dent in Domaining circles.

Oh, I see. I am deaf and thus hadn't looked at the video. I wasn't aware. Thanks for telling us about this :) You're right: I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else in the domaining community.

The takeaway is:

“you can’t just add a bunch of keywords on a page and expect results just on that”.

If you're already producing good, unique content and presenting it smartly you won't see much of an impact. Product pages (datafeeds and ecommerce) are what have been hit hardest - in particular, ones without any other value-added content.

As for it flying under domainer radar - from what I've seen domaining forums (and the domaining community in general) aren't exactly a hotbed of up-to-date SEO knowledge :).

Agreed. As a domainer I'm happy for the lack of competition, but as a developer, it is really frustrating trying to teach the importance of it to clients, what is essentially the backbone of search.

It is like scuba divers not caring about their air supply, or race drivers not caring about the fuel. Very strange.
