Now all of a sudden its off the directory list!!
Help, Google just killed my site. 0 hits now!!

Before coming to rank #1 what was your rank ? were you among first 10 ? if you become rank one suddenly from nowhere then its just a something temporary.

It was was on page 3 a couple days ago and was slowly moving up, It was #3 yesterday and this morning it was #1. And now it gone *poof* along with some other Keywords. My site was getting 200 uniques a day from google.
As you can see traffic was good. Then all of sudden early today everything just halted traffic came to 0. The site should have 100 hits already... I think Google penalized my site? or this just temporary. I hope its just temporary.
Same thing happened to me. I had a site that rose to 2nd position for the keyword for some time. It had all original content that was periodically adding and I spent much time on. I was getting decent traffic from the search engine.
I was very careful to avoid problems like buying back links, spamming etc and did a small amount of well researched SEO. One day in June it just dissappeared from indexing completely. It has never returned. At the same time it had a pr of 1. Apparently it is banned for some reason. I still get the odd hit from yahoo and other search engines.
As a result I have stopped writing articles all together as most of that sites content now appears in article directories that others have reprinted with very slight modification if any.
I will in the future just stick to uninformative pages with a lot affiliate links. The first two pages of google's search for that keyword contain nothing but sites with product sales.
I don't know that this is your situation or not as Google states sites will drop off and reappear in short time as part of Google updates.
Without seeing your site it is impossible to tell if their is reason that it may be banned.
I have this problem with a bunch of my sites. They were on page 1 for various keywords, then Google changed its algorithm and my sites got killed off... they fell to page 3 and lower. I'm waiting for Google's next visual PR and hoping that will change things.
I have been watching about 50 small niche content sites with the DigitalPoint tracking tool and they come and they go. It is NOT uncommon for a site on the first page of results to go away for a few days or a week and then come back. I have learned not to do anything for a couple of weeks.
This is not that strange. I think you either have been banned or this is temporary problems in google which I am sure will be sort out very soon. If you can post your website and maybe we can take a look.
Did you buy a lot of links? Google analyzes how quickly you acquire links, and if links are acquired too quickly (or appear to be paid links), they'll penalize your score. This has happened more frequently now that they have implemented the anti-Google-Bomb algorithms.
Also have a look on stopbadware.org and see if your url is their google are tightening up on this and several clients have been blocked by google, not completely tacken of, just for having ads which may have slight bad ware links in it
