I have always found my .com, .net & .org domains to get indexed quickly by Google but this has often been declared as false by some people.

Other tld's will usually get indexed but later and only 90% of the time unless they are developed.

Here is the proof, Some domains I registered all the same time, all the .info's are not indexed and the only .mobi but all the .com, .net & .org domains are indexed.

Very interesting situation. From this I would say yes but there has to be other factors besides then extension. I am going to digg some.

That might be true but I can't see any reason that I can notice. Please let us know what you find and if anyone else can show similar stats then let us know.

I agree with this.

my site is number 3 in Yahoo search for Ferret, 23.5 million results
and i can't even find it on Google and they have only 9.5 million results.

I also know of others that have found this to be true of their sites

Yeah you are picking on me :hehe:

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

You are on uk yahoo. I was using us.

makes a difference. What google are you using?

Funny thing.....when I click on your link, you show as number 10, not 1. I suspect they are geo coding results as well.

Weird! i won't try to pretend i understand any of this,

This is the google link, when i try to do it on .com it automatically defaults to .co.uk

Ok then it definately is geo ip based.

here is the problem folks.......the extensions com, net, org are the most heavily used in the us. So the search algorithims for the us based search sites will cater to them because that is what is desired. (In general, yes, yes, your 1223123443.info should most certainly rank #1)

In the other countries, co.uk for instance, the use of other extensions is a well known thing, .tv for instance is very well known and used. So the uk search algorithims are different.

I doubt very much it is a preference to beat down any one extension. It is more of a "what are people really looking for?" formula.

I am in the us.

If I am searching for "puppies for sale" then I want to see puppies sites that are likely usefull to me. The likelyhood is that a US business will us a com, net or org so that will be the most relevant thing to me.

If my google gave me results like puppies.co.uk, then obviously that is pretty useless to a US consumer.

So to me it is pretty logical why this is done. Just because 22742467.mobi isn't indexed probably means that it is either a completely useless site, if it is one, or that google hasn't had any reason to index it, because there is nothing there, or no links to it.

Plus, and this has been talked about. Mobi sites are notoriously non-indexed because of the code used for them.

so .info's are inferior if you want to get indexed quickly and target the USA?

Nope, I didn't say that.

I said that com net and org are more LIKELY to be relevant.

I have had info's indexed the next day as long as I have a site with relevant content on it. Doesn't mean they are first in the results, and they by no means should be unless they are the only site with any content on the subject matter. And even then, ut is unlikely they would be first unless searching with quotes.

Interesting read. Good points Bulldog.

Nice question Htmlindex LOL!

You may have a valid point.

However, if you build a site with fresh, relevant, and usefull content it will get indexed sooner or later. I don't think Google is in any hurry to index long numeric strings that direct the user to a Sedo parked page, regardless of the extension.

Thanks for sharing.
