In the last few hours Google has dished out literally hundreds of PageRank and ranking penalties to sites that have been selling links, some of the more popular sites that have been hit include:
http://www.searchenginejournal.com (PageRank 7/10 down to 4/10)
http://www.searchengineguide.com (PageRank 6/10 down to 4/10)
http://www.seroundtable.com (PageRank 6/10 down to 4/10)
http://www.problogger.net (PageRank 6/10 down to 4/10)
http://www.copyblogger.com (PageRank 6/10 down to 4/10)
These sites are lucky because they have only had a couple of points knocked of their PR, almost like a virtual penalty, "less important" sites like http://womenmumbles.com have been dropped 40 or so places in the rankings for their own trade names. Also just about every directory that has been buying links has been dropped in PageRank.
